Selective Pallet Rack Beams

Pallet racks cannot be complete without cross beams used in warehouse racking. Crossbeams are essential elements of a selective pallet rack system. They are combined with vertical uprights to create pallet racking. Different terms have been attributed to describe warehouse racking cross beams, including beams, cross beams, step beams, load beams, and stringers. However, they all create shelves and are regularly utilized to uphold palletized products in the warehouse. The capacity of the cross beam is dictated by the height of the front face and the thickness of the steel.

Selective Pallet Rack Wire Decks

Wire decking is placed on the crossbeams to give support to the products it is holding. This is also a safety measure to prevent pallets or the products stored on them from falling through. Wire mesh construction also allows for easy identification of shelf contents. It also prevents dirt and other debris from accumulating on the shelves because of the holes in the mesh. Most wire mesh decking has U-shaped channel supports, also known as struts, to support the load. Waterfall decking extends across the top and down the front of the beam to provide more support. Upturned waterfall decking can provide containment of a loose product to prevent the product from falling behind the rack system. Lay-in decking does not have any U-shaped features at all. It is often called flush decking and rests inside the step of the beam,
